The month-long effort was capped by the 24-hour Relay at Hopewell Park on Friday and Saturday. More than 323 participants and 31 relay teams from a variety of local companies took part in the event. Participants ran and walked continuously throughout the night in support of those touched by cancer. They wore t-shirts that read, “Celebrate. Remember. Fight back.” Sixteen corporate and Taunton Division EnergyUSA Propane employees were among the participants.
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives people in communities around the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost and fight back against the disease.
The weekend’s event kicked off at 5pm on Friday, finished at 9am on Saturday and raised more than $32,000. It featured a luminaria ceremony at 9pm to honor survivors and their loved ones.
