How do you schedule deliveries?

It is both economical and convenient for an automatic delivery schedule to be based on your historical or projected usage and/or on the equipment you have. Delivery may be weekly or monthly. If you wish to monitor your tank, we can deliver on a will-call basis.

How often is 'automatic'?

'Heating degree days' is the category with the biggest influence on automatic scheduling, since for heating customers, the colder it is, the more frequent our delivery schedule is.

How exactly do you calculate how much fuel I will use?

Heating degree days, types of equipment/appliances, and of course, personal preference will ultimately dictate usage. Our Sales Representatives will custom-tailor a plan to meet your needs.

What is your storage capacity? Do you have an adequate supply in the winter?

Our own storage facilities total over 1.7-million gallons of propane and our guaranteed supply lines contain many millions more. Because we've been in this business for about 50 years, we've developed long-standing relationships with the largest American propane bulk suppliers.

Do you offer budget payments?

Absolutely, running from July and through June. They're offered exclusively to our year-round heating customers. Check our Flexible Pricing.

What payment methods do you offer?

In person with cash, in the mail by check, automatic monthly billing to your credit card, or "at will" charges to your credit card.

Do you have a Senior Discount?

We offer the most economical possible price to all customers regardless of age.

How soon can I get a tank installed?

Generally, tanks are installed within 10-21 days after our account representative visits your site, depending on time of year. Faster or emergency installs are available at an added cost, but most users find our schedule works well.

Do you have a Service Department?

Our strategically located, seasoned service professionals are all licensed and ready to go when you need them.

What happens if I smell gas?

Although the flammability of propane is less than that of other fuels, it's best to be cautious should you smell gas. Here are the appropriate steps:

  • If you feel you're in danger, contact emergency services at 911 and evacuate the area immediately.
  • If you smell gas, call us at 1-800-822-1300, option 9. The odorant added to propane smells like rotten eggs.
  • If the gas leak is inside, do not turn on or off any light switches or electrical appliances. Open doors and windows to allow fresh air into the building, then leave the building.
  • Turn off your propane tank by lifting the hood and turning the valve clockwise.

How long will a tank last for my fireplace?

The size of the fireplace and the number of hours you use it every day will dictate overall time, but if you utilize one 100-gallon tank, you should get 300 to 400 hours of operational time from it, on average.

What size tank do I need?

It depends on your total BTU load. A gas range could use a 50 gallon tank, while a home with central heating, hot water, gas range, and gas dryer could use up to a 1,000 gallon tank.

May I paint my propane tank?

Sure, provided you use a "reflective" color to reflect heat-generating light away.

How often will you bill me?

Unless you're on a budget plan, you'll receive a bill three to five days after your delivery.

How will I know when I've had a delivery?

We'll leave a delivery receipt in your door. There is no need for homeowners to be home for residential deliveries.

May propane tanks be buried?

Since propane is environmentally friendly, most towns and municipalities allow underground tanks. Our EnergyUSA Propane account representative can coordinate this with local fire officials.

Will my propane-consuming appliances require routine service?

Manufacturers recommend that gas-burning heaters, furnaces, and boilers have an annual maintenance/safety check. We recommend that service be scheduled during the summer, when demand on your system is likely to be minimal. See our service section.
